My Pontiac Solstice Safety

Pontiac Solstice Features

The Pontiac Solstice key can be used for the ignition and all locks.
Your Pontiac Solstice has a Pontiac Solstice theft-deterrent system. The
key has a transponder in the key head that is electronically coded to match a decoder in your Pontiac Solstice that allows the key to start the Pontiac Solstice . If a replacement key or any additional key is needed, you must
purchase it from your Pontiac Solstice dealer/retailer.

Pontiac Solstice Power Door Locks
You can use the Remote Keyless Entry (If your Pontiac Solstice has one) transmitter to lock and unlock the doors from inside or outside the Pontiac Solstice.

Pontiac Solstice Unlocked doors can be dangerous.
• Passengers, especially children, can easily open the doors and fall out of a moving Pontiac Solstice. When a door is locked, the handle will not open it. You increase the chance of being thrown out of the Pontiac Solstice in a crash if the doors are not locked. So, wear safety
belts properly and lock the doors whenever you drive.
• Young children who get into unlocked Pontiac Solstice may be unable to get out. A child can be
overcome by extreme heat and can suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke. Always lock your Pontiac Solstice whenever you leave it.
• Outsiders can easily enter through an unlocked door when you slow down or stop your Pontiac Solstice . Locking your doors can help prevent this from happening. To lock and unlock the Pontiac Solstice manually: • From inside the Pontiac Solstice , pull up or down on the manual door lock knob located on the windowsill.
• From the outside the Pontiac Solstice , turn the key toward the front or rear of the Pontiac Solstice to unlock or lock
the door.

Pontiac Solstice Exhaust gases may enter the Pontiac Solstice if it is driven with the liftgate, trunk/hatch open, or with any objects that pass through the seal between the body and the trunk/hatch or liftgate. Engine exhaust contains Carbon Monoxide (CO) which cannot be seen or smelled. It can cause unconsciousness and even death.

If the Pontiac Solstice must be driven with the liftgate, or trunk/hatch open:
• Close all of the windows
• Fully open the air outlets on or under the instrument panel
• Adjust the Climate Control system to a setting that brings in only outside air and set the fan speed to the highest setting.
• If the Pontiac Solstice is equipped with a power liftgate, disable the power liftgate function.

Pontiac Solstice CAUTION:
Leaving children, helpless adults, or pets in a Pontiac Solstice with the windows closed is dangerous. They can be overcome by the extreme heat and suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke. Never leave a child, a helpless adult, or a pet alone in a Pontiac Solstice , especially with the windows
closed in warm or hot weather.

Leaving children in a Pontiac Solstice with the keys is dangerous for many reasons, children or others could be badly injured or even killed. They could operate the power windows or other controls or even make the Pontiac Solstice move. The windows will function and they could be seriously injured or killed if caught in the path of a closing window. Do not leave keys in a Pontiac Solstice with children. When there are children in the rear seat use the window lockout button to prevent unintentional operation of the windows.

Pontiac Solstice WARNING!
² For personal security and safety in the event of an accident, lock the Pontiac Solstice doors as you drive as well as when you park and leave the Pontiac Solstice .
² When leaving the Pontiac Solstice always remove the key and from the ignition lock, and lock your Pontiac Solstice . Do not leave unattended children in the Pontiac Solstice , or with access to an unlocked Pontiac Solstice . Unsupervised
use of Pontiac Solstice equipment may cause severe personal injuries and death.

Pontiac Solstice Wind Buffeting
Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of pressure on the ears or a helicopter-type sound in the ears. Your Pontiac Solstice may exhibit wind buffeting with the windows down, or the sunroof (if equipped) in certain open or partially open positions. This is a normal occurrence and can be minimized. If the buffeting occurs with the rear windows open, open the front and rear windows together to minimize the buffeting. If the buffeting occurs with the sunroof open, adjust the sunroof opening to
minimize the buffeting.

Pontiac Solstice Lap/Shoulder Belts
All seats in your Pontiac Solstice are equipped with Lap/ Shoulder Belts. The belt webbing in the retractor is designed to lock during very sudden stops or collisions. This feature allows the shoulder part of the belt to move freely with you under normal conditions. But in a collision, the belt will lock and reduce the risk of your striking the inside of the Pontiac Solstice or being thrown out.

Buckle up in your Pontiac Solstice even though you are an excellent driver, even on short trips. Someone on the road may be a poor driver and cause a collision that includes you. This can happen far away from home or on your own street. Research has shown that seat belts save lives, and they can reduce the seriousness of injuries in a collision. Some of the worst injuries happen when people are thrown from the vehicle. Seat belts reduce the possibility of ejection and the risk of injury caused by striking the insid of the Pontiac Solstice . Everyone in a Pontiac Solstice should be belted at all times.

Keep Driving your Pontiac Solstice!
